St Mary’s Church

At Goring, and as a Voluntary Aided Church of England School, we embrace a close partnership with St Mary’s Church.

We have written a Growing Partnerships covenant, which was drawn together by our school and West Park CE Primary School, guided by the Diocese of Chichester.

This has enabled a clear plan for working together with St Mary’s Church and is reviewed once a term.

Within our partnership, we have agreed:

  • A commitment to regular engagement and support in the worshipping life of the school- both at school and at St Mary’s Church
  • Pastoral support for the school by the Church community
  • To engage in at least one annual agreed campaign to serve the common good.

Children play an active role in planning and leading collective worship at St. Mary’s Church at different times of the liturgical year.

Our Year 3 children prepare for and lead the Harvest Service, with offerings to our local foodbank along with that of the community of St Mary’s Church.

Year 4 pupils lead the Christmas Carol Service, celebrating the Good News story of the preparation and arrival of Jesus.

Year 5 pupils prepare the Easter Story and service.
