School Lunches

We are proud to work with Chartwells for your children’s school lunches. Chartwells believe that the key to fuelling young minds comes from understanding both what they need and what they enjoy, which is why they develop nutritious and delicious food that pupils love, alongside helping to ensure a healthy body and mind. Their passionate culinary experts work closely with us to ensure every child receives healthy food, perfectly suited to meet their needs and dietary requirements.

We want to remind parents and carers that Goring Primary School endeavours to be a nut free school in order to best manage the risk of allergic reactions to nuts and keep our children safe.

Packed Lunch

If your child chooses to bring a packed lunch from home, we would encourage a balanced and healthy content. Here is a recommendation of the foods that would constitute a healthy lunch box and which foods to avoid. Please be aware that we do not allow fizzy drinks or sweets in school.

The NHS outline what a healthy lunch box should contain.

  • Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes or pasta
  • Protein foods like meat, fish, eggs or beans
  • A dairy item, like cheese or yogurt
  • Vegetables or salad and a portion of fruit

Fruit & Milk

The Government currently provides one piece of fruit each day for all infant children. This is offered to the children at morning break. Junior children may bring a piece of fruit for morning break.

Milk is provided free of charge to all children under the age of 5.

Below are excellent websites with hints and tips about creating varied and healthy lunch boxes.
